Stage Design

Anton v. Bredow was born in Hamburg in 1996, after an aborted study of graphic design and stage and costume design assistantships at the Thalia Theater, the Burgtheater Vienna, La Scala Milan, the Salzburg Festival and the Schauspielhaus Zurich, followed by stage design studies with distinction under Raimund Bauer at the HFBK Hamburg and an ASA scholarship at the École des Beaux Arts Paris in the film department under Clément Cogitore and in the visual arts under Àlvaro Urbano and Petri Halilaj. This was followed by work in spoken and musical theater, dance and film, including the set for "Abl Ma Ansa" directed by Mariam Mekiwi, invited to the Berlinale 2018. He worked with Ersan Mondtag on stage designs at Theater Basel and Schauspiel Köln. In the independent Hamburg scene, he has repeatedly created stages at Kampnagel, among others, and his collaboration with director Woody Mues is constant. The set for "Civil Dusk" by David Uzochukwu and Jünglinge Film premiered at CPH:DOX in 2022. Bredow is currently in the process of producing an essayistic cinema documentary, which will be his first appearance as director and writer. In addition to the HLTM, he will also be producing productions at Theater Bremen, Theater Koblenz and the Hamburg State Opera in the 23/24 season.
