Lea Marlen Balzer

Direction

Lea Marlen Balzer studied theater, film and media studies and German language and literature in Frankfurt am Main and Paris. Alongside her studies, which she completed with distinction, she worked as an intern at Heute Journal (ZDF), Radio Fritz (RBB) and Deutschlandfunk Nova. She has been studying directing at the HfMT Hamburg since 2019 and also writes for magazines such as DB MOBIL and ZEIT Magazin. In 2018 and 2021 Lea Marlen Balzer was a scholarship holder of the Deutschlandstipendium, in 2022 of the Heidelberger Stückemarkt. Her work "Herbertstraße - eine Mauerschau" was invited to the Zeitzeug-Festival in Bochum. In 2023, she was a finalist in the Drachengasse competition for young talent in Vienna, where her production "Titanic oder wie tief kann man sinken" was awarded both the jury prize and the audience prize.

In the 2023/2024 season, she will direct EUROMÜLL / UA at the HLTM.
